With the Group being renowned as one of the top 10 reinsurance brokers globally, UIB take pride in delivering personalised services and global solutions through a dedicated multilingual team of specialists.
The Project
UIB had occupied their 43,000 sq ft office at 69 Mansell Street, Mansell Court for more than 30 years. As part of a strategic move to modernise their working environment, they were relocating to a 15,000 sq ft office in The Leadenhall Building, one of London’s most iconic commercial spaces.
They needed a partner to manage the complex process of moving within central London. The project would require careful coordination, sustainable furniture clearance, and precise logistics to meet tight timelines and building access requirements.
“Active Workplace Group’s partnership with us demonstrated how their experience, flexibility, and attention to detail can deliver outstanding relocation outcomes. From dismantling old infrastructure to coordinating access at two major London buildings, their team ensured a seamless move, on time, sustainable, and stress-free.
Active Workplace Group are to be commended for their excellent project management, strong communication, and professionalism throughout this complex, large-scale relocation. We are delighted with the results”
Jane Dace, Facilities Manager, UIB
Objectives
The key goals of the project were to manage UIB’s full relocation on time and in line with the handover schedule. The clearance of long-standing furniture and storage systems needed to be completed safely and sustainably, and of course the logistical challenges of access and egress needed to be carefully navigated. Clear communication and structured project management were crucial to this process.
Challenges
Having occupied their previous building for over three decades, UIB’s space contained significant quantities of legacy furniture, roller racking, and equipment that needed to be fully dismantled before removal. The process required careful planning to ensure safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption.
Access to the existing building also presented logistical constraints, while timely access to The Leadenhall Building was crucial to maintaining the move schedule. Coordinating between both landlords, building management teams, and UIB’s internal stakeholders was key to ensuring a seamless transition.
The Solution
Active Workplace Group was appointed to deliver a complete relocation and sustainable clearance service, ensuring a smooth transition between sites and environmentally responsible handling of surplus furniture and fittings. Our services included:
· Crate management and pre-move packing support
· Removal and relocation management
· Sustainable clearance and disposal of redundant items
· Dismantling and safe removal of roller racking and legacy furniture
Active Workplace Group developed a detailed move plan to manage each phase of the relocation efficiently and sustainably.
Active delivered extensive Pre-move support. Our team provided packing materials and crate management services, helping staff prepare for the move with minimal disruption to their day-to-day operations.
Furniture and racking were dismantled safely and sorted into appropriate waste streams for recycling and energy recovery. Where reuse or donation was not possible, materials were processed responsibly to minimise environmental impact.
Active coordinated all access and scheduling requirements with both buildings to ensure smooth movement between sites, avoiding downtime or delays. Whilst a single point of contact ensured open communication with UIB throughout, keeping all stakeholders informed and confident at every stage.
Results
The relocation was delivered on time and within scope, with UIB successfully moving into their new offices in The Leadenhall Building as planned. The 43,000 sq ft site was cleared and handed back on schedule, enabling dilapidation works to commence immediately.
All redundant furniture and materials were sustainably processed, with items broken down into waste streams for repurposing into energy and reusable materials.
