TW Metals Europe & SEA is a leading distributor of specialty metals. It is the UK based arm of a US company formed in 1907. It has had a presence in Southampton UK since 1963. TW Metals stock and process tube, pipe, bar, extrusions, sheet, and plate in stainless, aluminium, nickel, titanium, and carbon alloy. Whilst, headquartered in Southampton they also have stocking locations throughout Europe. They pride themselves on delivering outstanding service to satisfied customers.
TW Metals were looking to completely renovate their 10,000 sqft space to create practical, sustainable and inviting workspaces. A primary requirement was prioritising sustainability and achieving the best possible EPC certification rate of A. This was to be supported through new HVAC systems, improved floors and ceilings and solar panel installation. Externally, TW Metals wanted a new entrance journey and new car-parking as well as modern lighting and EV charging for everyone visiting the building.
The new look office space was to feature modern, inviting and practical working areas with breakout areas. It would also have fresh spacious washrooms and an inviting reception area.
To meet the brief, Active used its group expertise to deliver a turnkey solution covering Design & Build, Moves, Facilities Management, and Furniture. The project required the building being taken completely back to shell and core, complete internal demolition and removal of all existing redundant Mechanical & Electrical Systems
Sustainability was targeted head on with the use of highly insulated materials, solar installations, EV Charging and modern, highly efficient Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
Internally the entire space was reconfigured and included not only office space, training rooms and breakout areas but also a locker room with showers, tea point and first-aid room.
External works involved relocation of 600 tons of soil to create a new larger, safer car park for staff and visitors with solar lighting and remote barrier access. Active also remodelled the entrance as the start of a customer journey with modern access, ramp, signage and decoration.
The new installation completely transformed the existing space into a fully functional, ready-to-occupy workplace. Active visioned and delivered the perfect design and managed the whole 7-month development with expert project management.
The skilled teams managed everything from demolition, through to furniture installation. Their craftsmen delivered partitioning and joinery with beautiful finishes on ceilings, floors and walls. Active’s in-house team of engineers installed and optimised mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with comprehensive fire safety, security, and IT/AV installations. Lastly, but not least, Active sourced and installed new furniture and internal and external signage.
“Active have brought a wide range of skills to this project and the results speak for themselves. We are very proud of our newly renovated Southampton office. It is a modern, collaborative space designed to deliver even greater value to our customers.
This transformation reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, investing in our teams, and creating the right environment to provide the exceptional service, speed, and expertise our customers expect from TW Metals.
A huge thank you to Active Workplace Group who were invaluable in bringing our vision to life with their wide-ranging capabilities and in making this project a big success.”
